Michael Levitt

Stanford University, USA  (Nobel Chemistry 2013; https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/chemistry/2013/levitt/facts/)

Michael Levitt is a professor of structural biology at Stanford and a member of Bio-X ,Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute and American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Dr. Levitt was awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2013. Dr. Levitt’s research focuses on three different but inter-related areas of research. First, they are interested in predicting the folding of a polypeptide chain into a protein with a unique native-structure with particular emphasis on how the hydrophobic forces affect the pathway. Second they are interested in predicting protein structure from sequence without regard for the process of folding. Third, they are focusing on mesoscale modeling of large macromolecular complexes such as RNA polymerase and the mammalian chaperonin.
